URL to Markdown Converter
Paste a web page link and get clean Markdown of its main content: headings, lists, links, tables, images, and code blocks. Copy it or download a .md file.
How to convert a web page to Markdown
- Copy the address of a public web page from your browser and paste it above.
- Choose "Main content" for the article only, or "Whole page" to keep menus and footers too. Turn links, images, or front matter on or off.
- Press Convert to Markdown. The page title becomes the top heading; headings, lists, tables, images, and code blocks keep their structure.
- Copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file for your notes app, docs, static site, or AI prompt.
Questions and answers
What does the converter keep?
Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, links with full addresses, images with their alt text, bulleted, numbered, and task lists, tables as Markdown tables, code blocks with their language, quotes, and horizontal rules.
What is the difference between "Main content" and "Whole page"?
Main content keeps the article or the documentation text and leaves out menus, headers, footers, sidebars, cookie notices, share buttons, related posts, and comments. Whole page keeps everything a visitor can see in the page body.
Why is a page empty or refused?
Some sites build their pages with JavaScript in the browser, so the page sent to tools has no text; the converter says so instead of returning nothing. Pages behind a login, a paywall, or a bot check cannot be read either.
Is it good for ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools?
Yes. Markdown keeps the structure an AI model needs with far fewer characters than HTML. The token count shows about how much of a context window the page will use, and front matter adds the title, source, author, and date on top.
Is it free? Are there limits?
It is free and needs no sign-up. To keep it fair for everyone, each visitor can convert a limited number of pages per minute, and very large pages are read up to a size limit.
Do you store the pages or my links?
No. The page is read once, converted, and sent back to your browser. Nothing is saved.
Can I use it from a script?
Yes. Open api/run?url=<page address>&format=text next to this page to get plain Markdown, or leave out format=text to get JSON with the title, counts, and Markdown.
